1. Does Cardio need to be grounded?
Too much static may impede the good functioning of Cardio and may even damage
components. Therefore it is strongly suggested to ground Cardio (see grounding
procedure in manual).
2. Is it possible to
use the easy exit code in scenes (macros)?
For all information about scene programming refer to the manual. It
is possible to use the easy exit (quick arm) code in the programming of a scene
only if this scene arms the alarm system. Therefore all security related
commands will be executed instantly without asking for an access code to be
entered. Remember that the easy exit code is NEVER valid to disarm the security.
3. Is it possible to adjust the
screen contrast?
Contrast is set during QC. However, it is possible to adjust the contrast as
shown on the layout at the end of the manual. Always use a plastic screwdriver
for this purpose.
4. Secondary (slave) touch panel
When installing an extra touch panel (slave), make sure that the jumper in the
upper part of the touch panel board is cut (see layout in manual).
5. Temperature offset
Temperature offset ranges from -9.9 to +9.9 degrees Fahrenheit or Celsius. In
order to be able to change the sign from positive to negative, change digits
first and then change the sign.
6. Hysteresis
This gives more inertia to the temperature control (heating or cooling). This is
an absolute value and sign cannot be modified.
7. "Interior" status to
security detector
It is possible to give security detectors the interior status.
However, this status is quite tricky to understand and may cause unwanted alarm
detections. This is more acute when security functions are added to a scene such
as "night". Therefore, if possible, we suggest to give these detectors
the "delay" status instead along with a bypass command.
8. Security detectors may be used
not for security purposes but for lighting control only. What is the proper type
to use in this case?
Use the "inactive" type.
9. How and where to program X10
codes?
The X10 protocol is built-in the system. Go to light and outlet (device)
configuration screens and simply enter X10 codes in the upper section of
the screen (X-10: )
10. Can Cardio be extented to more
than 16 security zones?
No, it can’t.
11. What to do after Cardio detected
an alarm?
Check the logbook.
12. It is not possible to control
Cardio from an inside telephone.
You must install a RJ45 type of telephone jack to be able to control Cardio from
an inside telephone. Futhemore, it is also recommended to install a RJ45 plug to
send messages out in case of emergency.
13. What type of cable is recomended
for the bus?
A two twisted pair cable No.18 AWG, unshielded.
14. What kind of power transformer
is recommended?
A transformer between 14Vac and 16Vac. For a typical installation, the minimal
power required is 40Va.
15. What if Cardio is to be
installed outside North America where the powerline is 220v/50hz?
Just choose the appropriate transformer (220v/16v). As for the frequency, Cardio
works either on 50hz or 60hz.
16. How many extra touch displays
can be installed?
Cardio can control one extra display (slave). It is possible for Cardio to
control more than one extra screen but external power is needed in this case.
The slave touch panel will perform the very same functions as the main screen
except the temperature reading. Always install the main screen in the location
you want to control the temperature. Do not forget to cut the jumper on the
board of the slave panel to remove the temperature reading. However, it is
possible to control more than one heating/cooling zone with the use of Enerstat
or RCS thermostats.
17. What screen can the 3 wired low
voltage switches be controlled from?
From the first three buttons of the "electrical outlets" screen.
18. Is it possible to use X10 device
modules in conjunction with these 3 wired switches?
Yes it is possible, up to 7 X10 modules for a grand total of 10 outputs
including the 3 switches. Enter X10 codes in the appropriate location of the
"outlet configuration" screen. However, it is possible to use more X10 device modules (up to 10) and do not use any of the wired switches. In
this case enter the proper X10 code in the outlet configuration screen.
Note that switches on the board will always click when receiving X10 commands
and therefore could not be used for other purposes.
19. Everything works fine, the TW523
module flashes as it should but the light does not respond to any X10 command.
See the troubleshooting section in the manual or call the installer.
20. When we call Cardio from the
outside, there is no ring or just a single ring before the line be disconnected.
Most of the time, there are to many phones hooked up to this line.
21. After a power failure, the power
came back and the battery is supposed to be fully recharged (allow 6 hours) but
the "battery pictogram" does not desapear from the main screen
This is because the battery has been drawn too much and needs to be replaced.
22. What is Heating setback?
Cardio can lower the temperature when receiving such commands from a scene (ex:
Exit) or a schedule and turn it back to normal after receiving other direct or
programmed instructions. In comfort mode, temperature in each zone is that set
individually at each zone thermostat. When Cardio is ordered to lower the
temperature when turned into economy mode, Cardio’s own thermostat (display)
will take over all other individual zone thermostats and will impose the same
temperature in all zone which is the temperature level that has been programmed
in "desired tempearture" in the upper right corner of the screen.
Later, when receiving another instruction to turn the temperature back to
comfort, temperature in each zone will increase until it reaches the temperature
individually set on these thermostats.
23. How to set sunrise/ sunset times
in Cardio?
Go to the screen called "sun" and enter the correct longitude
and latitude data according to your location (default data are those of Montreal).
24. When controlling Cardio from a
telephone, is it necessary to wait for the end of the voice message before
pressing any key on the phone?
No, you can press at any time.
25. What happen when there is a
power failure and the battery has been drawn completely?
Since the power is not back, Cardio will not be able to perform any function.
However, the programming will stay except the time and date that will need to be
adjusted again.
26. In case of emergencies, Cardio
does not send out emergency calls.
First, check telephone numbers entered in the "phone numbers" screen. Sometimes, telephone lines cannot answer as fast as Cardio would like and
need more time. Therefore, insert one blank space (or more) before entering the
first digit of these telephone numbers.
27. How to have access to the full
programming menu?
The user’s programming code (default value is 11111) gives access to the first
8 screens as shown (lights--zone names/beep). To have access to the
remaining configuring screens, it is necessary to use the installer’s access
code. Call your installer for this purpose.
28. Is there any programming limit
within Cardio?
Yes there is. Cardio allows a total of about 200 programming lines in scene and
schedule programmings. If you go over this limit, Cardio will not display a
special message but all the programming over this limit will not be performed.
29. Does the LCD display have a
backlight? Is it always on?
Cardio's LCD display has a backlight that lights up as soon as you hit the
screen. It turns OFF after being idle for 1 minute when in direct command
screens and after being idle for 15 minutes when in programming screens
30. Does Cardio respond to X10 codes
generated from other X10 transmitters?
Yes it does.
31. Does Cardio track the state of
all X10 devices?
Yes it does.
